Garden #16, San Jose

Showcase Features: This homeowner-designed garden is a lovely example of what can be achieved in a small space on a busy street. Originally a lawn, the owner transformed it into an aesthetically pleasing garden by sheet-mulching, then planting a variety of water-wise California native plants at varying heights, including larger plants like Coast Live Oak and low-growing Coyote Mint. The garden is surrounded by sidewalks, making access easy.

Other Garden Attractions:

Gardening for Wildlife: This garden attracts robins, black phoebes, many native bees, and sometimes arboreal salamanders.

Plants Available: Local non-profit, Grassroots Ecology, will be selling plants at this garden on Saturday! Pre-order yours on their website: grassrootsecology.org/nursery so they are available for pickup in garden #16.
