Showcase Features: This well-established front garden demonstrates native plant landscaping at its best. Professionally designed and installed with site-appropriate plants like epilobium, trailing sage, deergrass, buckwheat, blue elderberry, and blue oak, it is enthusiastically maintained by the homeowners. Offering something of interest in every season, this large corner lot can be viewed from many vantage points. A true gift to the neighborhood.

Other Garden Attractions: The young blue oak is the focal point while a dry creek meanders through. Large spreading groundcovers like trailing coyote bush and sage contrast well with silvery sandhill sage. Large boulders are effectively integrated with the plants around them. A bench by the front door offers a place to rest and observe the wildlife. The coyote bushes tend to get too large unless cut back occasionally. Last coppicing was done in January 2024 so there may still be bare areas around the plants at the time of the tour. However, the plants will be entirely recovered by summer.

Gardening for Wildlife: The hummingbirds and bees have discovered this garden and make it a pleasant place to rest on summer and fall afternoons.
